I just found a cheap batch of ac188 from a electronics store nearby that's selling out everything in stock at crazy prices.
Can i use thiese in stompboxes?
They are medium power audio driver/output transistors typical gain of 100hfe.
If they even work in circuits like stompboxes and might be tuned to sound good im gonna grab them for future use.

Yeah, you can use it in any circuits that use a AC128. I use a AC188 in a germanium booster. And about the sound, you know, some ge sounds good and some ge sounds bad, but my suggestion is: GRAB THEM!!! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_razz:

Usually I'm skeptic about Ge buys these days, this looks like a good example of maybe there are some good NOS in there.
Buy 5, take your transistor Hfe/gain tester out to the parking lot with them, see how they look under test...lol, then decide whether or not to grab as many as you can...closing out, they might just be better off trying to find homes with you than sitting on the shelf that's about to come down.

Congrats! Nice find.
I have made excellent fuzzfaces with these.  They seem more consistent than AC128s.
Probably worth 2 or 3 bucks each.

hmm, didn't get the ac188's but i got thiese

and thiese

For about 6$ total.

All the caps are 47n.

Looked around on some data sheets.
Seems like the ac127 are NPN wich should be a good thing, right? no posetive ground.
The oc139's are switching transistors so they are useless for my purposes?
The black ones in the middle with paint scraped of are unmarked, fist i thought the code was diliberatly scraped of but one of them are only worn at the edges that made my mojo nerve dance!
I'm going to do some messurements soon i guess. never done it before so i'll have to slap a leakage tester device together.

birt

you can use the switching transistors for audio too. nothing wrong with that.

Hi
+1 for switching transistors.  Sure they often have lower hFE because they are designed for high frequencies, but it's not always a disadvantage.  The 2N2369A is a switch that is one of the most popular choices for Si fuzzfaces because it has lower hFE (around 70).
cheers
