Dr. Boogey + ROG Tonemender's Tonestack = HUGE VOLUME DROP...why???

hello,

i just finished to replace the tonestack of dr. boogey (http://gaussmarkov.net/layouts/drboo/drboo-schem.png) with the tonemender's (http://www.runoffgroove.com/tonemender.html) tonestack...it sounds very well for my ears (i don't like very much the marshall tonestack...)...but i have a HUGE volume drop...looking at the schematic of Dr. Boogey's tonestack i observed that R14, which was originally 4.7K, becomes 200K after modifying it using Tonebender's values...this can be the source of my problem?
to make it ok would i scale the tonestack?

another suspicious part is that i wired the lug 1 of the mid pot to the ground, not to the Vref as in Tonemender...

thx a lot!

Did you omit the input buffer and the output booster of the tonemender, and used only the tonestack?

Ok, that would explain the volume drop. You can scale the whole tonestack, like what was done on the dr. boogey, and that should take care of the volume drop.

So if you wanted to scale down a tonestack to use in thr Dr Boogey, how far down would you need to scale it down?  sorry my math skills are obviously lacking

i think that i must to scale it with a factor about 50 to restore the 200K resistor to 4.7K  :icon_rolleyes:

From recollection, the DRB tonestack was scaled down by a factor of 10, i.e. R/10 and C*10. There was a thread about this sometime ago. If you look at the schematic that gigimarga linked to, and compare it you to the original electritabs drawing, you'll get the idea.

The tonemender tonestack looks more like a tweaked fender style tonestack. I think that if you scale it down by 10 (i.e. 200k become 20k, the 47n becomes 470n. etc.) it would be ok.

thx a lot...when i will have some time i will scaled down with a 10 factor... :icon_mad:
