I'm looking to measure the hfe of a few Si transistors but for the life of me I can't get it to work. I rigged up a test circuit like the one listed on Smallbear, but nothing ever registers on my DMM. I've got leads in right but I get no readings what so ever.  Could someone walk me through measuring hfe without a DMM that has that function? Sorry if this is a dumb problem but my brain is fried at this point.

Hi
check out the circuit at geofex.com.
Because it is for PNP devices, to measure NPN devices you'll need to reverse the battery direction.  And Si virtually doesn't leak, so you can ignore those comments, too.

Last night I was searching GEOFex but I couldn't find anything. This morning, it's right in front of my face. Wups. :icon_redface:

Thanks Brett.
