Hey Guys,

I just took apart one of my Whirlwind IMP 2 Direct Boxes and created a Drawing.  I'm wanting to add a Mute switch to this box.  I have some "On-On" SPDT switches that I want to use.  Check the drawing out and see if you can tell me how I would wire the "Mute Switch" in the scheme of things.

Thanks,

Shaun

Well, the way I wire up switches of this type is that I just connect the input signal coming from the jack to the middle lug of the mute switch, and then connect one of the outer lugs back to the transformer and the other outer lug to a grounding point (not sure if you have to connect it to the switch leaving the option to ground lift it or connect it directly to the XLR ground, I think last since it's not good practice to let input 'floating' around, anybody else please correct me if I'm making a wrong assumption :))
Hope it's a bit clear?

How about just grounding the input with the SPST switch.
Grounded = mute

That will work as well as just connecting a wire to ground and a wire to the input with two connections to the switch.
