Planning to Mod an Ibanez pedal for more versatility

I have this pedal:

...Which is pretty good.  But it's big limitation is that the switch from "TS9" to "Hot" is a tiny little toggle, and it should be a footswitch.

So my plan is to add a footswitch to this pedal to select between modes, but not interfere with the ability to use the existing bypass.
My ideas so far:

1. Find a way to mount a footswitch on the upper section (below the knobs, or where the mode select switch currently sits)
2. Cut the switch actuator into left and right halves, and rig the mode switch under the left half (stock bypass is on the right).  With a small enough switch, a battery might still fit!

Anyone who has done more than one footswitch on a pedal like this, I would love to hear your thoughts/tips/experiences.
Note: there's just a bit more room in the battery box than there is in a Boss pedal.  It's a little wider.

Happy Easter!

Hi Alex good to talk to you again!
I would like to do the same with my Boss Turbo Overdrive.  (Turbo mode on/off)
What I will do is put a stomp-switch in a small box and attach it on the side with a plate under both boxes.
Ask yourself if it's worth the trouble since there might be a volume difference between the two modes.

It might be easier to add a jack and make the mode switchable by an external box.

Hi Frank!  Did you have a potato battery signature pic a while ago?

Anyway, I will add a bit to my design goals:

-The TS9 and Hot modes are slightly different volumes, but I plan on using the TS9 mode for most stuff, and switching to the Hot mode for heavier passages or solos.  The volume change is acceptable.
-Yes, it would be easier to add a jack and external box, but for aesthetics and ease of use I would rather have both "bypass" and "mode select" switching available on the pedal itself.

Maybe a spdt latching switch in a super small form factor that would fit underneath the battery cover...

Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming!

Yes.  I got stuck out of the forum because I changed my email and typed it wrong.  After asking Aron to come back he gave me an different but similar username.  So I got to write useless posts to look like if I am not completely new (even if I am a novice).  ::)

I was laughing when I saw a sticker under my Turbo Overdrive.  (It's written vintage 1985 with a 140$ price tag).  I think it's more discontinued piece of junk that they should have putted on the sticker.
That is why I don't want to mod the box.  ;) :icon_lol:
I would never pay 140$ for this thing.

VINTAAAAGE !!!!!!!!
Is your box is vintage too?  It might be a bad choice to drill a hole in this !

I have this pedal! It's great with some mods (Keeley, I think) that mellow out the TS9 side among other things. I never use the Hot function, but the idea of a footswitch for it would definitely increase it's versatility. I have to agree with kurtlives though...it may be better to just add a jack for an external switch.

I guess I'll have to take a closer look at the switch to see what is going on there.  The type of switching they use might limit my choices.  It's probably just a SPDT but you never know...
