Hi Guys

I have just bought the new Bugera 333XL Amp. and the footswitch that comes with the amp has a mini DIN connector attached.
This connector is plugged into the amp and so on....

I have emailed the Bugera company and they told me that it is not midi based.!

Now my question is: is there any way to convert the footswitch input on the amp, so that i can connect it to my midi controlswitch unit??
Either as midi or as oldfashion footswitching, via jackplugs....

I think more information is needed..
Maybe you could get a multimeter & use the continuity beep function to see whether some pair of pins short when you step on the switch.

Pauls right more info required

How many pins is the din socket? You need to find out what pins short for each switch. What type of controller you using - if its the behringer that has 2 relay switches on it so would be just a matter of making a breakout box and wiring each socket to the din and hey presto. Sounds rather vague but I'm sure you understand.

Also just a quicky - what do you make of the amp? Any good?

I have a Digitech 2101 with a foot controller that uses the same type of cable.   It is not midi , in mine one of the poles is power so don't plug it into a midi port.  In fact when my cable crapped out I had to order one from them because a midi cable won't work.  They just use the 5 connections for their own proprietary communication.

Hey thanks for the posts.

The amp sounds great!! Super clean tone and brutal sound with all the nuances that i love in an amp.
I must say that I'm the type that believes that the player is more than half the sound...
Not that I'm a wizard guitarist
, but give a kid a Gibson Custon bla bla bla....and a Mesa Boogie stack and he still sound like shit cos it's his first day!
Give an 80 year old guitarist, an Epiphone clone of the Gibson bla bla bla and plug him into a cheap amp clone and he will play your ass off.
All the hype on brands, is draining the music out of people....

The "official" midi cable has a 5 pin din plug at each end, but only three pins are used (two for a current loop, one for shielding). But, there are plenty of 5 pn din cables with ALL wires present (used for hi fi). The hi-fi cables work fine for midi in my experience.
I mention this simply because, it may be that an 'ordinary' 5 wire din cable would have worked.
