for the people much wiser than me.

I'm designing a boost for a friend and so far I've got a JFET input buffer and an NPN boost stage.  The only problem is that the signal will be inverted.  He is paying me (not much) money for it, so I want it to be good (as in no inversion).

I've been looking at the AMZ Buffer page and I'm trying to figure out which would be the best for my situation.
There's the opamp input buffer with signal inversion that I could put before the NPN replacing the JFET.  I don't mind Vr-ing
There's the phase splitter with an NPN (that was the original thought).

What else could I do and what is the best thing to do?

Thanks!!!

Non-inverting opamp gain stage.

Brilliant!!!

The only problem is, I've decided to learn as much as I can about BJTs and only use opamps, etc for buffers and easy things until I'm satisfied with my knowledge of BJTs (which I'm not yet).

So...  I'm not trying to sound snobbish and I know I'm over-complicating.  What's the best idea for my lunacy???

I will go look up that non-inverting gain stage though... THANKS!!!

I make no such claims...

How does noninverted signal correspond to "good"?  Is his setup somehow sensitive to signal polarity?  If he has more than two commercial effects on his board, the odds are good that his signal is getting inverted anyway.

I always thought inverted was good. Keeps the output and the input from interacting, or something along those lines...

Stick an inverting amp on the end? Will mean using another op-amp chip mind but they're simple to wire up

Also, think about raulgrell's advice :)

actually, now that I think about it, it's the only effect he'll be using so I guess it really doesn't matter...

I'll probably just leave it inverted.

The next pedal I do WILL be a noninverting opamp stage!

Well, it's true.  I am a noob and there are people here MUCH MUCH MUCH wiser than me pertaining to this.
