Maestro FZ1S have almost no sustain???

Hello,

I've built a Maestro FZ-1S using this schematic: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_maestro_fz1s.pdf.
It sounds nice, but on the long notes/chords it acts almost a noise gate...almost no decay and the cut the sound...like a Fuzz Factory with the Gate pot maximized

It's that normal or not?
