I just finished the General Guitar Gadgets Rangemaster PNP Positve Ground version and I am getting no sound when I turn it on. When I turn the pot just makes a scratchy noise.
I did swap the ring and sleeve because I thought iwas backwards on the layout.
Can anyone one look at it and tell me if it is correct or not?
It is here:

Ring and sleeve shouldn't matter - that's just the input jack switching; so long as the circuit is completed it's all good.

Scratching from the pot is normal as well, as it's directly hooked up to the power supply in this circuit.

Aside from that, I'm not much help!!  The usual - check for solder bridges, polarity, pinouts etc.  Remember this is a pos ground circuit, so double check you got the battery around the right way!!

I just checked and everything is hooked up like the layout except the ring sleeve.
I might swap them and see if it makes a difference.
LED comes on and the pot scratches but that's it.

The Ring Sleeve in the layout on the input is definately incorrect. So, not counting that, I still have no idea why this isn't working.
So frustrating for an easy build.

My brother had problems with his, but I am not sure what layout he used. I do know that he hasent been able to get it to work. And he doesnt have much time to noodle with it. I will ask him and let ya know some time today or tomarro

I built mine from this exact layout and it works just fine.  What are your Q voltages ?

Chris,
I will check those after work.
What should they be?

To get a Bipolar transistor within operational bias for a gain stage:
Base above emitter [by about a diode drop].
Collector voltage so that there is room for the signal to swing negative and positive, the bias on the 'RM' is supposedly 7 of 9 volts on the collector, anything around >1/2 of supply will 'work'.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
