Transformers size, would fit on a dime.
Only four buxx and four nodes, but I'm lazy enough to try to pique anyones interest here who knows about or has tried one for say amp input ground lift..or anything in a SP.

IF ITS THE ONE I'M THINKING OF, THERE ARE A FEW OCTAVE UP CIRCUITS THAT USE IT.

Hi
if it's the one that I've used, it's got a narrow frequency response (something like 300 Hz to 3 kHz), but that makes it ideal for octave-up, ring modulators and nasty distortion.  I reckon that there's a whole bunch of circuits waiting to be discovered that use overdriven little transformer primaries to produce mobs of Class A distortion.  Just connect the primary where the collector resistor usually goes (ie between the collector and the power supply), and use a really small emitter resistor (10 to 47 ohms for a 1k transformer, R V+ to base=10k, R base to gnd=2.4k).

cheers

Cool ! I bought one but the house ate it, and hasn't puked it up again yet. I'll have to buy a spare to work with.
See, my idea is to make a Mic-Preamp, mainly suited for recording preamp for micing already lightly to heavily distorted guitars. I figure I'll want the 4 dolla RS unit to test it anyway, and seearrchy and hopefully find a higher class performance iron swap at some point in the future.

it's got a narrow frequency response (something like 300 Hz to 3 kHz),
For purely tone shaping purposes, it would seem a quick way to TS-Eq your whatever box.
And perhaps a treble bypass control can be used?
Say like a cap wired parallel?

I'm pretty sure that's what's used in the GGG Tycobrahe Octavia clone.
I built one a while back and it's a nice effect if you want really over the top fuzz and an octave up.
Subtle it ain't!  ;D
