Do I need a resistor for the LED on the shaka tube or is it built into the cuircut?

Paul's layout (you are using Paul's layout, right?) does not include an LED, your expected to add it in yourself.

Yes you will need a current limiting resistor.

What I did was to just to tap the 12VDC at that long horizontal jumper in the middle of the board.
From the jumper to the resistor to the LED to the stomp switch and finally to ground.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith

Yes I'm using pauls layout...Thanks

Yes, you need a resistor. If you take the LED feed from V+ and the ground for the LED from 0v (rather than V-), I recommend you use a 10k resistor to start off with. Before you connect up the LED and the resistor, make sure that you're not wiring the LED to a 24V - 28V supply. If you are, you're picking up V+ and V-. Test it with your meter, it should be 12v - 14v if you've got the correct connections.

Voltages vary considerably with the Shaka Tube, because of variations in the AC power supply. You may need to adjust the value of the 10k resistor to get the brightness just right as a result.
