I don't agree. I don't find hendrix/trower univibe sounds to be clashing because they are not synched to the music, nor with other phasing/flanging sounds I hear. I don't normally expect a mod effect to be synched. And I think the tap tempo makes it easy to change speeds for something like that if nothing else. For a tremolo or delay that you want to sync up for musical purposes it's a different story, IMO.
