Hey guys, I've been using the DIY layout creator to try to make a board layout for this shem with no luck:

It's the filter section for the Analogguru Zecekn-Weh. I know it's really not that complicated but I'm having a very hard time making this layout because I've never done one before. Can anyone give this one a shot for me or at least offer some hints on the best way to approach making a layout? The op amp is a 4558. I know how to figure in the switch and everything, I just need the board... Thanks!  :icon_confused:

Dragonfly

Start with the IC...place it in the middle of the board and work your way outward from it.

At the risk of blowing my own horn, you might want to go to the Small Bear store and get a copy of "PCB Layout for Musical Effects". It is written precisely and exactly for people in your situation, who want to do some layouts but have never done them before. If you learn by doing, you may spend literally months at each layout learning each new thing.

There's more to layout than a few hints that can be typed in on a forum board.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I've got a layout, but it won't help much because the + side of the LED is "floating" and not connected to anything. If you can figure out where it goes, or if you're certain it will work like it is now, I'll post the pcb layout.

That would be great if you could post it or PM it to me. Thanks!

Ok, now I bought a 470k trim pot from mouser because that was about the only 470k pot that I could find (thinking I'd just use it as an internal Q pot). I also found that the Dunlop High Gain Hot Potz is a 470K. Is that the idea of what is going there or could a 500k pcb mount pot work instead?
