25pf or 47pf in DOD 250

Just curious how a 47pf silver mica would make a difference over the 25pf in the layout. 47 is the smallest I have.

And how would different diodes make a difference. Same deal like in a Screamer or Rat? Thought i'd include three selections if the are worth it.

the 47pf cap will filter out more highs than the 25pf. though i don't think it'll be all that noticeable. if you have sockets you could always use them. as for diode selection, it would be best to breadboard it and try all the combos or again use sockets. it probably is worth playing around with different diodes with this pedal. rylan

I recently built one and had a lot of parts on sockets to try different values. Changing that cap made a LOT of difference in the high end!  :o I eventually chose 20pf. But I only use it as an overdrive with the gain knob not further than 2 'o clock (or 7, how do you say that). If you want to use it with the gain full (it's much more trebly then), I'd pick a higher value.

Socket the diodes too and try different types in symmetrical and asymmetrical setup. I chose 1N4148 asymmetrical. IMO asymmetrical makes  the harmonics sound nicer.

Have fun!

  Socket it.
or 'leapfrog' it [give the first small value permanent mounted with a little extra 'leg' on it.
Or see 'warp control' at AmZ.
tried all three and have the '3knob DIST+' on pedalboard, and I used that warp control knob while finding the chain position and other settings for the +. Variable taming control of high end makes it much easier to switch guitars, amps, pedalboard positions [say you have a boost in front or behind the +].
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
