I have 8 transistors, old, marked 2n3565.  Web searches show nothing about the package  and  pinout that I have.  I built A Fox Tone Machine (gaussmarkov) around these and the circuit works well, if a bit harsh, with silicon 2n3904 transistors. I want to use the transistors pictured below but he circuit doesn't work with my 2n3565's. Can anyone here explain the pinout and perhaps why the circuit doesnt work with these installed? (either way around)

Looking down at them from above...

Thanks for the info. The circuit now works with these transistors. I think that I had the legs crossed on one on my first attempt. Does anyone know if these transistors are silicon or germanium?
