Volume/Wah in the same pedal?

My Boss ME50s expression pedal functions as a volume pot until it is engaged as whatever the selcted effect is.

Is this a possibility with a wah? Could the switch instead of bypassing disengage the 4.7µF cap turning the pedal into a volume pedal or will you get some nasty popping?
