I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Boss DM-3.

I saw a picture of it on www.modezero.com of the insides of it, it has 3 trimpots, I was wondering if anyone ever tampered with these.
If so how long of a delay can you get from it?
It takes a strong man to carry a bolder across a thousand miles, but an even stronger man to carry a burden for all eternity.

I don't have one and I've never played one, but I know:

- Boss doesn't make them anymore
- it's an analog delay, max about 300mS. Most digital delays can get up to 1 sec delay but apparently analog delay is supposedly "warm" and more "tape-like" compared to digital. Obviously this is a subjective matter; something that sounds "warm" could sound "muddy" to somebody else. I don't own an analog delay so personally I can't comment.
- they get a good price on Ebay from what I've seen (one I saw in Australia fetched the equivalent of $US175)
- according to the reviews on Harmony Central most people think it sounds good.

One of the trimpots adjusts max. delay time. You can't increase it very much without really degrading the signal. Another trimpot is for dialing out clock noise. I think the third one is some sort of bias adjust. Ideally you would need a scope to adjust this one. IMO The only one really worth fiddling with is the delay time.

If you haven't seen it yet, the schematic is online at:
