H everybody,

I want to build R.G.'s Automatic mike muter to mute my acoustic on a Gracie stand, or rather whenever I step towards the stand the acoustic is on.
But I wonder how much signal (talking about mVs) the Optofets can take before distortion. I remember reading something about 50mV. That would to low considering the output of my Takamine.

Anybody?

The 50mV signal limitation is only a consideration if you're trying to use it as a linear resistor.

If you want to use it as a switch, it can take volts of signal in the off condition and not distort. It probably is not distorting in the "on" condition, but even if it were, it's muting the  signal so you can't hear it if it is. The signal handling limitations are only for using it as a linear device, not a switch.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
