Unfortunately, I didn't do that - it's a post from the Make: blog. The underlined words "these photos" in my original post were a link to the blog article.

The enclosure is white plastic, and the builder sanded down the thickness in the area directly above the display, which is mounted inside the case. The blog article has a link to a Flickr set with some construction photos.

I at first thought that the display was flush-mounted through a hole in the case, any gaps filled with bondo or similar, and the whole thing sanded flush before applying the final finish. Might still be an idea to experiment with.

I just finished an LPB - on page 293 of the 'Pictures!' thread - I drilled a hole for the LED but ended up mounting it behind the photopaper I used for the image, so it shines through from underneath a red spotlight. It's OK - a little dim though, maybe I should use a superbright LED next time - or mount it under a white bit!
