Howdy Folks!

   I built this from the schematic at JC Maillet's site.  It calls for a 1M Audio taper for the Gain.   I also read where some put in a 2M Audio taper there also.  I tried the 2M and it was too gainy.   Not much control.    I was looking for a 1M Audio taper but only have linear,  but I do have a 500K audio taper.   What or which should I use?   Any suggestions appreciated.

I think both will work, though with the 500k you'll have a little less control.

How much difference would a 1M Linear pot make if I decided to use one?

With a linear pot you will have less clean range on the gain pot.
The gain will be the same as with a 1M audio but the gain control will work differently.
Most of the gain will come before the half way point in the knobs rotation.
