Harmonic Percolator vs Barge Concepts BP1

From what I remember from searching for info about this pedal there were at least two versions of it. The Barge one is earlier with two npn's the later one had an npn silicon and pnp germanium. They were both built on the same board things were just changed around slightly and different resistor values.
If you notice there's some values missing from the barge schem. R1 and R2 glass axial I suspected were very large value resistors in the gig ohm range which made me think those two transistors were darlingtons but I didn't get around to trying it out. Those unusual resistors aren't in the later npn/pnp circuit.
