bought a lot of Nos japanese GE trannies!

Hi All,

Just bought 60 2SB172 and 20 2SB156 GE trannies, from what I could find, especially the 2SB172 should be good
for fuzz and rangemasters, might trade some if there's interest but I'm going to do a small run of fuzzes for sure.
He apperantly still had plenty left (he asked if I wanted a price for double that as well...)
Pretty stoked as what I read about them is pretty good stuff and they were cheap as chips! ($0.49 a piece)
Anyone has any other info on great Japanese GE transistors? (he mainly has NOS japanese)

He's a trader on trademe.co.nz called bigtronic.
As far as I know he only ships national though, so I might be able to be a middle man.
I can probably get a full inventory list if I ask him, so far it's all Japanese NOS.

well, figuratively speaking. I mean 49 cents a pop sure beats 14$ a pair if they work nicely.
I'm just saying 'cause I bought myself a  batch of useless Ge.

the 2SB172 are listed in the Small Bear article(and R.G.'s??). Also have been mentioned for successful fuzz use in the past. And FWIW, I bought 60 couple of months(or so) ago, and they seem to give good yields for leakage and gain. Lots for the higher gain transistor(about 120) which was perfect since after sorting through a bunch I had accumulated over time, I found I didn't have very many for those. At 49 cents ea. I would buy a lot (since you'll want to test and sort them for Fuzz Face use--if that is what they're for) but you might want to test the ones you bought first.
