Where to get pedal wiring cables?

I use maplin wire but the casing melts VERY easily... however in every pedal I look at, I see very close solder joints without melted wires. Is it that they use better wires all together?

It's getting very frustrating for me to use this... And I'm sure it can't be good for the overal sound, not to mention it looks pretty horrible.

With PVC insulation, it's best to heat the ends with the iron before attaching and soldering.  When you apply heat, the insulation shrinks back, but once it's shrunk back, it won't shrink again.

You could also use teflon coated wire, since the teflon is virtually impervious to heat.  effectsconnection has it in 10' lengths.

Thanks, great tips! Will look into this :)

Teflon all the way for me now. I like 19/36 24AWG, myself.

I use Teflon coated wire at work a lot, the stuff is awesome.  You need good wire strippers though.
