Electric mistress: Re-pair or Re-gut

I bought a project:
It's a not working EH el. mistress. (green on metal box)
there is a "floating" board in it and a lot of insulating tape.
The original board has old and new parts.
Does it make sense to put in a completely new board?

When you say green, do you mean those ones they started making in russia?  Those are pretty rare.  If it's the deluxe one with the odd colors, that's also rare!

  Yes.
  either way you can probably get a working EM...with some trouble.
  New board might be a bit easier, if the old board has problems...
  Hard to say unless you know how the old board works.
  Sounds to me like it's been 'junked up' by repairs and 'probably' has a working board..with some figuring and rewires 'would' work just fine.
  Doesn't look that old, I would start with the usual searchings to find out the wiring of your offboard components, starting with a schematic if no pics or other 'color by number' type of info could be found.
  If you could figure out what the typical voltages are on the bias, you could see if there are first any shorts, and if it looks like it could pass signal [ie opamps are biased etc.].
  It probably has an LFO, but at that point I'd have taken notes on the existing wiring [suspect correctness, but may be good for clues to run down]..and try rewiring the board, could be a good EM in an afternoon.
  Just me...but I'd get the peripherals and build another, while fixing, or instead of 'halving' apart the unit you have.

Well, actually I just bumped on to thi spicture, it's not mine.
The one I have is definitely 18V !
