So I built this power supply:

I get about 9.1 volts output, which is fine, but it is very noisy.  Is there anything I can do to quiet it down?

I built the same one and it is fine.  What type of power cord did you use?  I used a power entry module and a computer cable and there is no noise.

I built it inside an old computer power supply, so I used the same kind of cord and plug.  I took out the fan and put some semi-transparent plastic sheeting over the grill area and illuminated it from the inside with a couple of LEDs.  Could it be that the enclosure is either not providing adequate shielding or could it be the LEDs on the inside creating noise?

I don't think it would be the led's...how is the power cord grounded? did you go straight to the pcb from the power plug or to a ground screw, then to the pcb?

The pcb is grounded to the solder terminal on the power plug, and the power plug is grounded to the enclosure with a screw terminal.

you might wanna try to put an eyelet connector on the wire from the pcb and screw it under the ground screw. If the ground from the power module isn't connected with an eyelet connector, you may wanna put one there too.

Hmmm... I'll try that.  But I don't have any ground loops or anyhting...

Could I add extra filtering to try and quell the noise?

Not sure about that. You could try it & let me know what you get.
