Hey guys I'm building a boost pedal and I have a few high pass filters on switches. On the back of the one switch that's supposed to cut the least amount of bass I've put a .047 box style cap and a 0.1 box style cap. I know on another pedal I have the switch I want to copy for the other side I haven't done yet uses box style CAPCITORS one yellow and one grey. It meant to cut more bass then my other switch. Can anyone tell me what the values of those other capacitors may be

If I'm understanding your question correctly - The color of the plastic case does not depict any value.

Any numbers written on those babies?  A code?

Can't get to the code with out taking them out. They were soldered in bent with the code facing down snug to the very top of the enclosure. I know colour doesn't mean a certain code I was just throwing it out there I case it could be helpful. What combination of capacitors will further Reduce the bass signal on the other switch. Compared to the ones we already know the value of.  If that makes sense lol

Smaller cap = less bass

The exact point of the frequency roll-off will depend on other factors, but if a 0.1 + 0.047 (in parallel?) = 147n gives "full bass" with little audible roll off, try a 47n, 22n and 10n for progressively less bass.

Host your pic on another site, like Imgur or Photobucket.

Hit "Reply", and click the 'insert picture' icon.    A couple brackets pop up, looking like "    {url}{/url}  "
Copy your URL to the pic, paste it between the brackets, and post!

Yeah, that stinks man, no way to tell the value.   A DMM with a capacitor function would be nice here.

You CAN remove the switc/cap(s), and there should be a code on it, OR:

Ok - you want this to cut MORE bass out than the one you've already done?  You can scale the caps if that's the case.  Try .033 and .05, maybe.  You can use jumpers to test before soldering.    Not enough cut?   Make them .022 and .01.

You're welcome Belanger, but I'm not amazing, LOL!  Just passing on what others taught me...let us know if it does the trick!

He's talking about the yellow/green, my colorblindness again, one at the top right of the enclosure. The component is folded down so only it's underside and leads are visible.

Floor-mat at the front entrance to my former place of employment. Oh... the irony.

He have to decide which action is lazier:

Unscrew the stompswitch or insert a small mirror.. :icon_wink:
"I'm getting older while being taught all the time" Solon the Athenian..
"I don't mind  being taught all the time but I do mind a lot getting old" Antonis the Thessalonian..

Belanger

It's a in off switch and there is no room for a mirror. I snug to the enclosure If that makes any sense.  I'm waiting for parts and then I'm just got to play around with a few values and see what works for me. I'll be sure to post a update guys

You can see there's some wiseassery afoot, belanger....it's all in good fun :)

Yeah, pulling the switch might've shown you the code. I assumed there was a reason you didn't...

If it were me, I'd take the toggle out, read the marking on the caps, put the toggle back in... but that's me.
