Schematic ignorant?

Hello.  Sorry to bother about this:  If you replace a Diodeclipper with a Mosfet 2n7000, what legs will be the positive and what will be the negative?  I see the schematics, but I am close to an analphabet in tat respect.  Plain words will do good.

  "Diodeclipper" = circuit which uses diodes and distorts [sometimes].
  Schematic always helps refer to what.
  I think reversing T0T demonstrates what you'll end up with when swapping the diode positions, but I don't yet know what I'm talking about.
