built several pedals, all with just the 9v battery jack, looking to install a 2.5mm socket for a wall wart power supply. Problem is the Radio Shack power supply doesnt seem to work with the pedals i built. Is it because the power supply isn't filtered enough? The same Radio Shack wall wart works with standard pedals like a Digitech Bad Monkey. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't you mean 2.1mm?

Did you connect it up right?

Here's a link to Dano12's excellent site witha wiring diagram: http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/StompboxWiring/

yup 2.1mm. And "doesn't work" means that there is 9v applied to the effect in the proper polarity however, the effect does not work.

sorry, um i think i got it, apparently the two +9v pins are not interchangeable. so when I plugged in the wall wart it disconnected the battery. who'd a thunk that ?
