2n7000 + 1n34a equals more noise?

Hi.  I have just installed the 2N7000 + 1N34A as described in this link:
http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/WGTP/MosfetDiode.jpg.html?g2_imageViewsIndex=1

This is in a DS 1 pedal from Boss.  The sound is good but the noise is a lot louder?
Any suggestions?

Diodes don't make noise, they only limit signal level when in a clipping configuration, generally the level at which the diodes do anything is well above 'noise floor' [ie noise and diodes when not playing should be less than the old or new diode thresholds, hence reason to suggest that noise isn't originating from changing the threshold voltage.
I'm not sure, but I don't think you could miswire the mosfet / 1n34 to 'produce' noise.
Which would leave something else as the noise problem, and there are lots of 'elses' in the Boss Box.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

clipping diodes basically compress the sound.  different types to different extents.  the new combo you put in probably has more compression(a lower threshold), so you have to raise the output volume more- hence raising the noise floor of the pedal.
