Over on the make blog there was a post today about an 8-step sequencer. Thinking it was one of the garden variety 4017 jobbers I've seen so many types, I clicked anyway.

I was surprised to learn about possibly very cool chip: the CDT-7350. Unfortunately, it appears to be unobtainable and the only datasheet I've seen is in Japanese.

The cool part it is that it appears to have an lfo built in, so making an easy sequencer would be super simple.

Anyone ever heard of this chip?

In the EE profession, many chips are not based on silicon or germanium, but instead are made on wafers of high-purity unobtainium.

These chips nearly always do exactly the job you want, but there are some difficulties with the parts buyers whining all the time if you use them.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

does anyone ever use sequencers to control filters or something on a guitar effect rather than like, the VCO of a synth? i think that would be kind of fun.

many pedals do this such as the zvex seek wah and ooh wah

some use sequencers to control phase such as the infinitphase
easyface, phase 90,many fuzz faces, feedback looper, tremulus lune and so on soon to be ADA!
