I figured I'd share this one with you, its my own layout of the Tychobrahe Octavia which can be found over at tonepad, I know I could have just used that one but where's the fun in that.

Anyway its built verified and works a treat.  I used photo-resist method to make but I've left plenty of clearance around everything that you will have no worries using PnP.

I'll post an image with the components on below so you can see it, and if anyone wants it I can email them the eagle files or make a pdf of the etch resist so its easy to print without re-size issues.

EDIT: It was suggested that I could add mounting holes, I didnt feel the need as I mounted via the transformer holes.  but have added them to the eagle file now:)

Hell tell you what I'll even put the mod on the PCB to remove octave there's plenty of room near the diodes for a few pads for wires for a switch

Ok updated with octave on/off and some mounting holes thanks RG for the PM  :icon_cool:

I also added a few notes on there to make anything questionable more obvious, PDF's going out now to those who have e-mailed already. be sure to post and let us see your handy work though

Would you mind uploading the EagleCAD files?

That's a great layout and I'd like to save it for the next time I order parts.

Thanks!

by all means I will e-mail them to you, to be fair the pdf option is probably easiest as you would need to have the same library as me and I also run with custom settings in the DRC too so if you loaded the board and did a ratsnest to draw the poly gnd plane it would resize all your pads and vias to your DRC settings and lose what I have saved and take a little bit of messing about to get it right again.

I dont have any web space available right now and dont really want it put somewhere for all and sundry to leech either. If you PM me an e-mail address I will zip it up and send the files to you, I've already mailed it to a fwe others tonight :)

Thanks for sharing.

It is a bit offtopic: but I see that the component pads are thicker. That's what I need/want, but I've never been able to find how to do that. Now I make them thicker in a paint-program.... Could you tell me how to make the pads thicker by default?

Just a little off topic lol

More than one way to skin a cat in this case.......... you know when you use the DRC function, you can specify clearance pad size etc in there, once you get settings that work for you then save them. Also you can modify your library using built in features in Eagle and you can in the first instance make the tracks that size before starting. Its all beyond the scope of thie thread to try and explain, as Eagle isnt the simplest thing to get a feel for.

Here is a link to a site http://gaussmarkov.net/wordpress/ you may already know its done by a member of this forum, there is an excellent library available there for Eagle and some good explanations on how stuff works there.  Also hit up instructables there are a few nice walkthroughs there.  Next thing dont be afraid to mess about and try different settings if it doesnt work then press 'undo' lol

Ok thanks!

I know Gaussmarkov's site ;) I'll mess around with Eagle some more, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
