i have 25 556 timers lying around and want to put them to work  ;D i was thinking maybe a simple dub siren design any ideas or anything i can do with these chips for a fun project? or incoperate them into one?

Use two, clock all the timers at 250kHz, and drive a MOSFET full-bridge using Crown Amps' "Class-I" topology.  It's like class-D, but a little more clever.  All the FETs switch at 250kHz, but the resolution ends up being 1MHz.  :)

You'll also need a dual op-amp for phase splitting.

Or maybe a dual metronome for weird "math rock" time signatures?

ok I have never done a layout this big would it be easier to breadboard this out before atempting the layout? any tips or pointers on how to do a pcb this size? thanks this form is great I've seen alot of layouts where all the pots are up front in a row and power and so forth all neat an orginized how do you do that without all the traces running into each other? Ive tried for 2 hrs and I end up scratching the whole thing I/ve started with the Ic jumpers 2,6 4,10,14 and 5,8 an 7 grnd an 14 power  but would it help to just use fix resistors in the layout then replace them with pot leads then try and orginize it from there?
