Ruby with headphone mod - how to make it sound better?

Hi there,

I really like the sound of my Ruby driving an Eminence Gov'ner with both knobs on full. I have done the ROG headphone mod now, but it's way too loud to get any breakup. It's real clean, and real loud. What can I do to reduce the volume/add load when headphones are used so that the gain and volume knobs can be cranked to distortion - without blowing my eardrums please? Would some kind of low pass filter help with the brittleness through headphones?

Thanks in advance.

from your link " The 10 ohm resistance between the headphone jack sleeve and ground will reduce the headphone output level."

I'd say start with playing around with different values for that resistor.

Thanks. I had thought of that. But thought maybe kinda simulating the load of a speaker somehow might be the go? What about an inline resistor or something? Plus some kind of filter? Thanks.

This link describes how to make resistive attenuators. I have have no idea, however, whether this can be applied to headphones!

Some interesting stuff for me to read up on. Many thanks for that.   :)

Also, if I wanted more volume out of the Ruby, could I output the Ruby into some other stage? If so, what would you recommend? I like the sound of the Ruby with both dials almost on full but would like some more volume. Thanks in advance.
