Ed Guidry's Blues Booster question

Are those J201's?  My buddy wants a boost at the end of the chain, but doesn't like the LPB, Katana, etc.  Too loose because his likes his boost to be REALLY hot.  He wants a little gain to be added back in when boosting.  Recommendations? 

Oh wait.  Duh I see it's a variant of the MB2.  I'll go check there.

I think any of the usual suspects should work: J201, 2N5457, MPF102...

  Wow! That's an oldy! Brings back fond memories of the early MB days. I'm sure it sure pretty good or Ed would never have posted it. The BSAIB 2 might also be something you should try if you like this circuit. The BSAIB 2 sounds good for sure.
