JFET switching?

I was having problems with switch popping so I started to look into JFET switching like in boss pedals.  I came across an article by R.G. (https://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/2007/Jun/JFET_Switching.aspx) with some helpful circuits.

It seems to work fine, but even when off there is a small amount of signal bleed.  If I feed it a really hot signal, it becomes audible and disgusting.  I read some other threads here about FET switching and I learned of the series-shunt switch, but I'm trying to keep the parts count down.

Any ideas?  I'm using J201s.  How does Boss get away without bleed problems?

Go to www.bossarea.com in their forum and search for the flip-flop circuit.  There's an excellent analysis of it there.

Hi
I'm no expert, but this surprises me given the high resistance of JFETs when they are off.  How many volts are you depleting from the gate, relative to the source?
cheers

here's the schematic, pretty much straight from the article

edit: this is just one "section" that I plan on duplicating for the individual switches.  right now i'm testing it as a muting circuit just to see what it can and can't do.  I don't know if it's worth it including the flip-flop circuit when I could just use a switch to send the control voltages.

as it turns out, the JFET was switching off, just the signal was leaking due to the signal paths being too close on the breadboard

thanks anyway you guys!
