Where can I place a pot to have a volume knob? what value pot?

visit geofex.com, technology of the wah pedals. but to make it easy you want it at the input resistor, which should be 68k, change it to a 100k log potentiometer.

I put a pot there and it just effect the high end???  its strange.   Its the resistor above the .22 cap

No disrepect to Mr. Keen, because that article is fantastic, but I've lowered that input resistor on 2 wahs all the way down to 10k and the volume difference was entirely un-noticeable.  Just seemed to get more muddy overall.  (Granted these were true bypassed with the input buffer removed.)  I'm sure the pickups were loading it and it just sounded ptddtthhhaaaa....

You want it at the output, not the input, if you want to lower the volume.  That should be simple.  Output of the wah (before the switch) goes to input lug, output goes from wiper to switch output, outside lug to ground.  50K or 100K audio taper should do it.

I don't have my notes, so going off recollection, I dropped the input 68k to 47k and dropped Q1's emitter resistor from 470 to something lower -- 430 or 390?  That made for a noticeable, yet inobtrusive increase in output.   I had a US model with carbon comp resistors and they had drifted badly.   There was a volume drop before replacing most of the resistors.

Well wait a minute though.  Sevenisthenumber said he merely wanted a volume pot.  So, which one is it?  Do you want more volume, or just a way to control the volume as it stands now?

If you want more, try what jaysg said.  If you want to control it overall, try what I said.

I want a volume knob to adjust volume of the wah/effect when on!

The resistor in your wah has the effect of change at the input actually setting some resistance in a way. A volume pot at the mentioned place in a Dunlop jh-1 (for example) would give a more noticeable volume change, as there is a buffer ahead of the fabled resistor. I just didn't think you would want a first stage buffer :icon_biggrin:

Right.  BUT, do you want it to just be able to turn it down, or increase output level?
