title says it all, i havent been able to find any online. mouser has em but I hate to make an order for just that.

it know its a "small signal NPN transistor"....but transistors are something i havent quite figured out yet so im having some trouble finding exact replacements

something I could find at radio shack would be ideal...Thanks!@!

I believe (and please someone correct me if I am giving wrong advice here) you should be fine to use most typical transistors in such a circuit.

As far as I unserstand it, a bistable multivibrator (flip flop) is essentially taking advantage of the fact that no two transistors are exactly the same and thus, when initially powered, one of the two gets switched on before the other. The circuit configuration means that whilst one transistor is switched on its collector sits at ~0V so therefore the base of the other transistor (being tied to the first's collector) is kept switched off. Pressing the switch reverses this situation.

The last flip flop I built, I used BC549s and it works fine.
