I'm planning on building a Sopht 12V 12k5 12U7 tube amp, but I'm having trouble locating an output transformer.

I was reading this thread:

http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=21959.0

And Stephane suggests the 70v line transformer.
The radioshack audio transformer is not doable for me, as I live in Canada and we don't have radioshack, but we have a store called The Source by Circuit City
which sells this :
http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=Clearance+Items&product=3201031

I'm not sure if it's the same transformer as the line transformer Stephane mentioned.
Can anyone verify this?

I'd prefer not to have to buy the Hammond one.

To those about to rock, we salute you.

If you live in Mississauga there is a place called A-1 Electronics Parts.
I learned of them from the BYOC website forum from a guy who posted about the store.
They should have what you need, or you can simply check on-line availability from the re-named Radio Shack stores.
A-1 is here: 196 NORTH QUEEN STREET.  tel: 416-255-0343. M9C 4Y1. TORONTO.
Here is the info from Mark's post: It's called A1 Electronic Parts, 196 North Queen St across from Sherway Gardens, Phone 416-255-0343, web site A1parts.com they ship out as well.

That should help you find the transformer you need.  Not sure if that one will work, though it looks similar to mine.
The Hammond one will be of better quality, though.

Yeah that's the correct sort of transformer. Just use the 0 and 8ohm secondary taps for the speaker and use which ever taps work best on the primary for the power tube side.
