Newbie question - Can't find the thread explaining parts of effects circuits

Hey I've been lurking for a while and still planned on it, but I lost this really cool thread where someone was breaking down (explaining the reasons for each component in it) effects circuits, or at least one in it, and if I remember right it was semi-recent and kind of long.  I've tried the search function and poking around manually but I can't seem to find it.  I thought I bookmarked it, but it's not there.  Any help would be great. 

So far I've re-built a BYOC Large Beaver that I purchased already made (apparently quite badly), that had a meltdown.  Since that I've built a Telecaster and rewired a an old tube radio to be a Princeton/Champ-style guitar amp.  Now that I have the guitars and amps I've been wanting, I'm finding my effects seem stagnant and hope to build some soon (order from Mouser is in...just waiting on SmallBear).  The resources here are amazing...just happened to lose this one.  Thanks again in advance,
