DD5 level booster

I would like to have an effect level boost for my DD5 boss delay in the same enclosure as my diy tap tempo.

My thought is to have a resistor(trim-pot) switched in with the level pot via a spdt.

Do you think running the signal about 6 inches to the switch and then back would cause problems? The tap-tempo switch is two conductor so maybe ring could activate a relay.

I'm still looking for a schematic.
