As long as you can solder and understand the instructions... I would go for it.

Do you mean build it from absolute scratch, or from a purchased PCB?  Big difference in degree of difficulty.

But other than that, Aron is quite correct.  There is nothing particularly demanding in this build if you can produce decent solder joints and read component values.  I suspect the trickiest part for a complete novice would be wiring up the pots so they do what you expect in the direction you expect.  It's not some sort of arcane knowledge to read a pot's orientation from a schematic, but folks just starting out tend to be thrown by it.  Worst case scenario is that the control works backwards and you end up having to unsolder, flip, and resolder the two outside lugs.

i recently breadboarded that circuit.  there are definitely a lot of parts and it seems intimidating.  but take it one chunk at a time and it will work.  look at the tonepad layout too, it's very similar to the ggg layout.  you should buy the ggg/tonepad board if this is your first build.  that way it'll almost be like painting by numbers.  if you're hardcore though, go for it with a perfboard/veroboard.

So that's why my first build has the knobs working backwards... Interesting. Just a matter of resoldering the outside lugs on the pots, eh? Will keep this in mind for next time. Thanks.  :-[ :D
