Battery Charger question

Is there anything unique to a wall-wart 12v "charger" over a standard power supply? I'm using a low-end one to charge a 12v gel cell battery. It puts out 120mA or so, which is pretty slow and it's a pain to remove the battery from the enclosure so that I can attach the alligator clips.

I have tons of 12v wall-wart power supplies that put out more amperage. I'm curious if there's something unique to the one that's a supposed "charger" or if it's just a 12v 120mA power supply. I'm not concerned about delta peak detection. I just want to simplify things by using one of our DC jacks and a slightly higher current supply.

Thanks.
