What is the purpose of a zero ohm resistor and is there any difference to just using a metal jumper?  i ask because I don't see why wah circuits use this.

Dragonfly

Easier for automation - machines cannot easily pick up a jumper, they need something to grab on to.  For DIY purposes there really isn't a difference though.

Thanks.  Thats a coincidence that you replied, as I am about to post an old circuit of yours that I finally got around to dropping into a box.

Also in the world of surface mount, there are no jumpers.

Cliff Schecht

Yes there are, they're called vias and 0 ohm resistors :D. I've seen Futaba use single sided construction with SMD components and use wire jumpers even. Like everything with electronics, it all depends on the application.
