Boosting bass only?

Here's one for ya,

I generally use a DIY Marshall Guvnor for most stuff I play.  I love the sound of the thing, but placed an EQ pedal after it and found that boosting the lows (100Hz) by say 8dB really improved the punchiness of my rig.  The tone stack I used in the Guvnor was an AMZ type TS mod, works well but doesn't really have that punch, it's just a LPF.  I'd like to build a little active circuit having amt. of bass boost and gain, to set & forget - the EQ becomes troublesome.  So:

How would I go about boosting ONLY the low end?  I was thinking of using a buffer>>tone stack with hard-set mid & treble, adjustable bass>>BMP recovery stage.  Have already tried the Tonemender, but it doesn't seem to be as focused...not looking for a tone stack, but a very specific range of frequencies to boost (fairly tight bandwidth, like +8dB over 50 to 100Hz I think).
Another approach could be to use a BJT booster set up to boost only those freqs desired, then mix that back into the signal (after proper phase consideration)?

Lastly, should I just go in there and do this with the input/output caps in my distortion pedals? I'm not sure that would do what I want, though...I'm probably liking boosting the bass more than my guitar is putting out.
Thanks for any suggestions/experiences!

You could try the Mr. EQ since its LO peak is 7dB centered at 100Hz.

Thanks....I'm looking at Anderton's Frequency Booster, wondering if it would work OK on 9V.  Calls for a split supply 12V, I'd have to do the voltage divider/reference thing...

Does anyone have a scheme for doing this? His circuit really seems to be the ticket, but in simulation it doesn't work at 9V using a reference voltage....whipping up a 24V supply to get +/- 12V isn't something I really wanna do...

***EDIT***  Sorry, found it at DIYGUITARIST.COM!!  ;o)

I'm not the most erudite voice around here, but it sounds like you're describing the EH Hog's Foot I recently built.

Mr EQ is great, but the tonemender is Soooo much better!

I think I'm going for just real simplicity, so gonna try out Anderton's Freq. booster...it seems really tweak-able!  Esp. if you do multiple sections.  Just want a flat response other than that low end, which I hope to dial in a bit with cap values.  I'll post after it's been tested...
Tone mender just didn't do it, for me.  I think bc the tone stack is interactive (it has to be, right? That's how true tone stacks are).

Maybe this... although intended for bass guitar, sounds like what ya need...
