Hi,

I'm trying to clone an old Vox Wah that I don't want to use live, but I just can't get the same sound out of the new one.

The only difference I can find is the old one has a 200k pot and the clone has 100k.

Is this really going to make much difference?????

cheers

If that's the only difference, yes the value of the pot controls the range of the sweep.  with half the value, you're only getting half the travel of the original design.

Whether that matters more than the taper...
  Hard to say.
Small Bear used to stock the black 200k wahpots.
I trimmed mine down to 100k w/switched tapering resistors, then took 'em out, the V847 couldn't really decide which case was 'better', both worked.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

If you haven't seen this yet, it may help you to get the sound you're looking for.  It has some good info on which components affect which aspects of the sound.

What are you using for your inductor in the clone?

If somebody makes a mistake, help them understand what went wrong.  Show them how to do it right.  Be helpful.  Don't just say "you're wrong, moron."
