Tube diodes, anyone?

There is a bunch of stuff on ebay at the moment, including subminis. I'm posting this really just to see what some of tube-mad creative types would do with them. Not just power supplies, but clippers, octaves, ring mods--what do you think? Rick? Adriano? Dano?

I think I read somewhere that the forward voltage would be way too high for them to be used as clippers. Maybe a four tube diode full wave rectifier might work for octup? They would be very interesting in a real ring mod (ie two transformers and four diodes). Your guess is as good as mine, but I'd like to see it done!

Gain up the signal, clip it off, then divide it back down...
If all that would just make the tube act all hard like a diode, I'm not sure it'd be aldesired over the diode.
