If I understand R.G.'s 2007 explanation of the Orange Squeezer correctly, Q2 is the lower resistance of a voltage divider with R2 that varies dependant on the feedback at the Q2 gate.  Would there be an advantage to having a JFET at Q2 that has a higher cutoff voltage or lower?  The Orange Squeezer uses the 2N5457 at Q2 which has a minimum and maximum cutoff votage of -.5v and -6v. The J201 specs -.3v to -1.5v.  If you're using R7 to bias, does it really matter which JFET you are using?
