Anyone know where to get small sliding type potentiometers like in EQ pedals and like mixers and stuff??

I wish GGG sold kits for these. It's a pain in the butt getting those weird caps.

Maplin make slide pots but I don't know if they'd be the right size for you.

How are you going to do the enclosure?

Antique Electronic Supply has them, too

Slide pots look cool, are compact, and have a certain "informational" quality to them in EQs that rotary pots don't have, but they are a royal pain to machine for, have fewer knob choices available, are susceptible to getting dirty, and don't necessarily save tons of space (relative to 9mm rotary) when there are only 6 involved.  I appreciate the desire to clone the original as closely as possible, but consider how badly you need to before committing to something that is tricky for the average person to do well.

Why not just buy a Boss EQ pedal? You can get them for pretty cheap on ebay and you can avoid having all of the challenges sourcing the parts and physically fitting all this stuff into an enclosure. That is unless you want to learn something from building your own.

Mouser sells Alpha slide pots. Some even have LEDs on the slider.

What value do you need?

I bought 100 brand spanking new CTS slide pots for replacements in my numerous MXR-M114-EQs.
They are 9K linear /w center detents. They're pretty high quality pots... very quiet and smooth... but
it is true that slide pots suck dust like a hoover.

Let me know if you need some. I could spare a few @ $2.00 each, plus shipping from 72143... that's
what they cost me 8 years ago. Limit = 20

Here's a pic, but this one happens to be 50K.

I need 10k pots for the project so I might be interested when I get around to purchasing parts.

The GGG EQ looks to be essentially, the same as the BOOS GE7, besides the bypassing circuit, correct?

I think the slide pots will take up less space. I can do them all on a seperate board. Since Im using plastic for this, it'll be easy to just cut out a big square and have the whole block right there.

I have to mention that I hate normal potentiometers. I suppose I could buy new ones, but mostly, I use old ones from pedals I built a while ago and liked, but after building bigger better stuff, decided to take apart and gut for pots. Potentiometers always give me problems when doing this. THey all get messed up somehow. I'm not bendning them or getting them all globbed in solder.

From the way I see this, the slide pots will be easier for a 6 pot build.

Bought  a couple of Alpha slidepots on eBay (60mm travel) for a blend pedal, just because of the coolness factor. Those things are huge! I will have problems sticking one of them + 4 pc mounted jacks in a "B" sized enclosure.
You also need to think of a way to seal them, right now they are wide open at the top, think I'll make a silicone gasket.
But the build quality looks very good, I do wonder if the smaller ones are this rugged as well.

Here's some pics of the CTS pots... showing how compact they are.
Six-wide they measure just under 2 inches.

One of these days, I'm going to test out my Dremel's router attachment on a guinea pig enclosure to see if I can make nice slots for slide pots. I've always wanted to give them a whirl for a DIY microsynth or something...
