Hi, can someone tell me the best way of fitting and connecting the led indicator lights on DIY projects. Mine seem very insecure and look crappy. They have also caused shorting out a few times so I must have missed something.

Can you post a photo of how you typically hook one up?

I typically do the following:

cut the legs down.
solder some thin wire onto each leg.
put some heat shrink over one of the legs.
put some heat shrink over both legs.
Glue gun LED into the hole, from behind it so it doesn't show up on the front.
solder the other ends of the wires into the PCB or onto the switch if you are doing it that way.

I use these.  They make it easy to fit them nicely.

If somebody makes a mistake, help them understand what went wrong.  Show them how to do it right.  Be helpful.  Don't just say "you're wrong, moron."
