However I don't know what it is..I heard it on ...What's the frequency Kenneth..by REM.. Anyone know what they're  using? Its the rhythm sounds that plays the same 3 or 4 chords over and over..

Sounds like a pretty straight forward Marshall Amp gain to me... am I right?

Sounds to me a little bit like a JTM60 combo amp I heard. Sounds like a tremolo is used on the chorus, set to choppy (square wave?). Just my $0.02.  :)
